IT checklist for moving or opening a Surrey office
Internet installs, cabling and phone transfers have lead times. Start these early and moving day is boring, which is exactly what you want.
Eight or more weeks before
- Order internet service at the new address; business installs can take weeks, especially in new buildings.
- Walk the space with us to plan network drops, Wi-Fi, cameras and the network closet.
- Decide on phones: keep your numbers and plan the transfer date.
Four to six weeks before
- Run and test cabling while the space is empty.
- Order any new computers, printers and network equipment.
- Plan access control and alarm changes.
One to two weeks before
- Install and test firewall, Wi-Fi and phones at the new site.
- Label every computer and cable at the old site.
- Tell clients and suppliers your new address; update Google Business Profile and invoices.
Moving day and after
- Move after hours or over a weekend.
- Test every desk, printer and phone before staff arrive.
- Have a technician on site the first morning.
- Securely wipe or dispose of anything left behind.
We handle all of this as one project, including cabling with permits where required and coordination with your landlord or property manager.
Questions
How long does a business internet install take?
It varies by provider and building. Plan for several weeks and order as soon as you have the address.
Can you move us over a weekend?
Yes. Most office moves are done after hours so you open Monday as normal.
